The Icesave bill of the government was just now approved with 34 votes against 14. Fourteen did not vote, and one was absent.

Most parliamentarians who gave a reason for their vote were agreeing about that the preconditions that had been set while making the contract was an improvement.

Progressive party members thought that the preconditions were not extensive enough and voted against the contract.

The civil movement supported the preconditions but could barely accept that the nation is to take on debts for private parties. The parliamentarians of the party either voted against the bill or refused to vote. The uncommitted parliamentarian Thrainn Betelsson said that the cure in this case is worse than the disease and voted against the case.

Independence party members did not vote, except Arni Johnsen and Birgir Armannson who voted against the case.

Steingrimur J. Sigfusson explained his vote and said that Icesave if left unsolved stand in the way of important cases that are related to the reconstruction of the economy. Both him and other parliamentarians of the left wing party voted with the bill of the government about the responsibilities of the Icesave contract.

The parliamentarians of the popular front party voted for the case. Gudbjartur Hannesson chairman of the appropriations committee was the only one from the rows of the party who spoke when they were voting. He denied every comment regarding hide and seek or games of illusions.
