"October would come back"  E-mail
Thursday, 02 July 2009 12:07
"October would come back," said Steingrimur J. Sigfusson when he described what would happen if the bill about the government responsibility of the Icesave contract would not be passed. He said that he thinks that parliamentarians would regret it heavily if that would happen.

Steingrimur said that the Icesave case is not the most serious case this moment. Fist of all is essential to get the national finances back on track so that there would be profits in the year of 2013. "If we are not able to get the national economy to survive through 2016 then this agreement will not take effect. We need to get the national finances back on track, or does everyone just want to give up right away?"

The minister said that the lack of action and energy of the Icelandic government lead to this situation. That thought of not payin is not approved of and would not make this case disappear. It would sit there as well as all reconstruction o fthe economy would strand. The co-operation plans of the international monetray fund would be upset as well as the loans from the Nordic nations would stop.
