Whale 9 left for whaling tonight

Whale 9 (Hvalur 9) left for its first whaling trip for this season just around 1am tonight. The intention is to shoot one fin whale. A large group of people had gathered around Aegisgardur and watched while the ship sailed off. The whalers where cheered on when the ship left the harbor.

Work was still in full steam around the cannon of the ship. The crew was aboard and the steam engine blew silently. Close to one hundred persons were on the docks when the ship was untied at the dock. Those were older whalers and younger, their families friends and close ones.

People spoke on the docks about that it should not take a long time to locate and shoot the first fin whale. The ship might even be back within 24 hours. The plan is to send Whale 8 (Hvalur 8) out whaling just after the weekend. Both of the ships are going to be whaling this summer.
