| Wants the employees and employers to strike |
| Thursday, 04 June 2009 15:20 |
"The government has a large part of the responsibility of how things have turned out here in Iceland," says Olafur M. Magnusson director of Mjolka. Olafur has had enough after the policy rate decision of the central bank of Iceland and wants to see all employers and employees to unite. Olafur suggests that the employers and employees strike to demand actions. Start with short strikes and then a long strike if nothing is done. "It is unacceptable to offer a government that does absolutely nothing to the people of this country. The employers and employees should put a pressure on the government with direct actions until they wake up," says Olafur who iterates that he wants to start peaceful protests. "It is clear that Icelanders have hit very rough waters. But the fact that there are by far the highest interest rates in Europe here only means that those who are not responsible for this collapse in any way are being strangled," says Olafur. He says that Mjolka is still doing well compared to many other companies. "We are on the otherhand sensing this enormous dissatisfaction within the economy."
