| The volcanic disturbance goes on in waves |

The volcanic disturbance in Fimmvorduhals increased as the night passed last night and reached its peak between 11pm and 00.30am, but has calmed down quite a bit after that, according to the information from the Icelandic Met Office. The tremors were mostly small and shallow. The eruption started between 10.30pm and 11.30pm on the 20th of March, Saturday. The eruption tear is ca 0,5 km long and is in the north side of Fimmvorduhals, east of Eyjafjallajokull. The eartquake activity started parallel until the eighth hour yesterday morning, Sunday, when it reached its peak but it then reduced again at 10. A new series started again around an hour later but the activity has then either increased or decreased. Ash fall seems to be minor and is still not visible on the radar of the Icelandic Met Office. There will be a more in-depth coverage of the eruption and its effect in Morgunbladid today.
