| People in their eighties and nineties caught stealing |
| Wednesday, 27 January 2010 18:13 |
There were various theft cases in the capital area yesterday but theft cases are nearly daily as was said in the announcement. From what the police says are the most common items cosmetics and clothing but the thieves are of all age and both sexes. "We are almost to the point where nothing surprises the police anymore when it arrives at the scene and finds children, youths or elderly persons who have been caught stealing. As an example lately have persons both in their eighties and nineties been caught stealing." Then the police says that people who bring their children with them have been caught doing illegal things but just yesterday was a woman caught stealing in a shopping center and her young daughter was with her.

I hope the police do not treat any shoplifters as criminals, due to the economic environment and sky high prices, sometimes people are forced into crime that otherwise they wouldn´t do. Everyone needs to eat and have clothes, especially for their children. The UK government has a lot to answer to in the realms of human rights. I´m British and ashamed of Britain´s behaviour. I love Iceland.
