Close to two thousand employees of Landspitali Hospital (LSH) have in the last few days received letters where they are introduced changes that are going to be done to their employment benefits. From what Bjorn Zoega chairman of the hospital says is the discontinuance of driving contracts in question as well as the set overtime is reduced to 10 percent of employment ratio. Bjorn says that if the employees do not want to approve the new benefits are they free to leave the hospital after three months. He has not heard about many persons that are not going to approve the changes. They are to take effect in the new years and is expected that it will save around 100 million króna annually by cutting down overtime. The discontinuance of the driving contract is according to the request of the ministry of finance. But the hospital will none the less make sure its employees are able to get to work when the public transport is not running. It will either be done so that the hospital pays for taxi or the employee will keep a driving log. From what Bjorn says will time tell how much this change will save for the hospital.
