The Landspitali hospital has to cut down by 2,8 billion króna this year. The administrators of the hospital met with the employees this morning to announce the coming down cut actions. The medical CEO of Landspitali does not expect the services to be cut this year.
It was written in Frettabladid today that Landspitali Haskolasjukrahus needs to cut down by 2,8 billion króna this year. Further down cuts are announced for the coming years. The hospital has already cut down by 70% of this amount but the weakening of the króna this year means that the hospital has to cut down even further.
The administrators of the Landspitali hospital met with the employees this morning but there has been announced that there will be a press conference at 1pm today. According to the sources of the newsroom are lay offs not ruled out.
Bjorn Zoega, medical CEO of Landspitali said in a conversation with the newsroom this morning that the project is overgrown and it calls for reorganizing of the entire health care system in Iceland.
He says that he does not expect that the services are cut this year but did not want to comment on what might happen next year.
In the Frettabladid is repeated after Hulda Gunnlaugsdóttir chairman of the Landspitali, that there is need for harsh actions to reach the needed cut backs.
