 The office of Atlantsskip in Hafnarfjordur was closed today. There are around 10 employees at the office which was not open because of operational business problems. Simon Kjaernested board manager of Atlantsskip is hoping that the company will be able to get over the problems in question but the imports and exports have been very few lately. All of the employees of the company have been laid off. "The office was closed today because of problems, but we will get through this," said Simon in a conversation with the newsroom this evening. He does not hide the fact that the operation of the company has been difficult since the imports and exports have been very few or close to none lately. "Two years ago the shipping companies used to call each other to help each other shipping items, but lately we have been using Eimskip to do all the shipping for us," says Simon but Atlantsskip has not been sailing at all lately but made a contract with Eimskip about shipments. He says that he expects that the company will be able to get through the problems but does not want to say anything about how it will be done.
