 The chairman of the labor union of reporters and a reporter for Morgunbladid, Thora Kristin Asgeirsdottir, has been layd off from Morgunbladid. There have already a number of employees layd off becuase of a broad organizing changes and are now close to twenty who have been fired so far. Thora Kristin confirmed with Visir that she has been layd off. She does not want to comment about the matter as is, but says that the labor union of reporters is looking at these layoffs and there may be expected some reactions to that later today. Visir reported about it this morning that Haraldur Johannessen and David Oddsson had showed up for a meeting with the board of Arvakur, publishing company of Morgunbladid. It is not clear what was being discussed but the media has lately reported abut that it is possible that David Oddsson might take over as the editor of Morgunbladid. That has not been confirmed. Staff meeting will be held at four thirty today. This will probably be cleared up at that time.
