New Kaupthing bank will change its name tomorrow into Arion bank. The bank says that the new name is brought from Greek ancient histories and refers to amongst other for perseverance, co-operation and comeback. There was a competition about the new name amongst the employees of the bank and the name was chosen out from close to three hundred suggestions.

In theannouncement from the bank says that the new name brings a new policy and values. The guiding light of the bank is professionalism, progress, care and loyalty where the customer is the foreground.

A video which is said to have been shown at the stimulus meeting of the high command of Kaupthing at the French Riviera in 2005, has been discussed amongst Icelandic bloggers for the past few days and has now raised attention outside of Iceland. The Danish newspaper Berlingske Tidende covers the video today and says it is a mark of the way of thinking within the bank and finally lead to the collapse of the bank.

Petur Blondal parliamentarian of the independence party and one of the founders of Kaupthing says that he is shocked about the information that has been released about the loans from kaupthing. There have other shareholders been treated specially and men have taken large risks on the behalf of the nation.

This was very surprising to people and despite the bank secrecy must be more important that men have been taking risks that have caused serious problems for the nation.

The national radio has been announced that there is an injunction request on the way from Kaupthing, in order to ban further publishing of information from the documents from the loan committee meeting in Kaupthing. This was reported in the afternoon news of the national radio.

The documents were published on the website of Wikileaks and the media quoted the documents yesterday and today. It is expected that the injunction request will be taken in and processed by the government before the night.

The bank Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander in the Isle of Man has been put into liquidation but the claim owners did not approve last week the plan of the government in the Isle of Man that 54% of the savings owners in the bank would be paid back their funds within 3 months and 75% would get their funds paid back within 2 years.

When Aland bank announced today the purchase had been finalized of Kaupthing in Sweden it came as a surprise that the payment was 6% less needed than originally announced.

The size of the balance sheet of Kaupthing in Sweden was 5 billion Swedish krona. The puchase price was 388 million Swedish krona in cash, equal to 5,7 million Icelandic krona, but that amount was said to have been fixed, as says at the website of Affarsvarlden which quotes to an announcement from the bank. Before the announcement was that the purchase price was 414 million Swedish krona.
