At work
Some things many people forget to think about, is how to save money at work. I hope most of you still have your dayjobs, and while having them .. here are some tips for you how you might be able to save up quite some amount of money .. at work.
1. ALWAYS eat a hearty breakfast. Fried eggs and bacon might do it for you if you afford it, but it is very fattening, but if you are the type that needs quite a lot of energy, working a physically tough job or simply burn a lot just sitting still during the day, then this could be the thing for you. One thing to keep in mind is that oat meal porridge in the morning can actually be enough for the most of the day, with only a small snack during lunch and then early dinner.
2. When cooking dinner, make enough for you + your family, + 1. The + 1 is your lunch. Having the same meal at lunch as you did the night before is not as unexciting as it sounds. Just make sure to make enough in order to have a full meal at lunch. Most work places have microwave ovens, some even small grill ovens where you could heat your lunch up. IF you thought you cooked enough, but the left overs would never make a full lunch meal, you can always make a sandwich or take with you a cup soup or noodles. Easy, quick and fills you up.
3. Stop eating out during every lunch/coffee break. If eating out every day 1-2 x a day for only 5 dollars or just about, work from mon-fri, it will make 100 dollars if you only eat out once, or 200 dollars if twice! Can you imagine how much it is if you eat out every lunch for over 10 - 15 dollars ?
4. IF you are a coffee drinker, and drink coffee from one of those big famous coffee shops, this might be something for you .. If you only buy 1 thing of instant mocca, cappucchino etc, and bring a mug to work, and an instant water boiler, you have a very good cup of coffee. The price of one thing of instant mocca or cappucchino or other brands and gives you perhaps 10-14 cups, are basically of the price of 1-2 famous brand coffee shop cups. You can even get a bottle of coffee syrup with different flavors like vanilla irish cream and so forth, for only a couple of dollars somewhere ..
5. Try to figure out how to use your breaks for something entertaining without going out of the building or area and drive your car. Usually when working in office areas you are most likely able to find a library or something like that, you might even just try to relax at work and eat your lunch you brought from home, perhaps read a newspaper, play solitaire or even take a nap? Gas prices are extremely high now.
Remember that there is usually always someone in your area that might be going your way some of the days you work, and you might be able to share the car (carpool) some days and so save gas .. and so expenses in general.
More to be added soon ..
